an e-mailed response to Etopia News’ inquiry regarding current Lt. Gov. and
2018 gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom’s position on AB 1681,
which would prohibit the sale of smartphones capable of protecting user data
from law enforcement, even with a proper warrant, his Chief of Staff, Rhys Williams replied:
“Has
not taken a position.”
