Representative Ted Lieu supports AUMA passage, calls for the “descheduling of cannabis”

In a statement provided to Etopia News on June 30th, shortly after the announcement that the Sean Parker-backed “Adult Use of Marijuana Act” (AUMA) had qualified for the November 8, 2016 California ballot, U.S. Representative Ted Lieu (D-33rd CD California) declared:

“I firmly support the Adult Use of Marijuana Act being placed on the ballot this November. The evidence is clear that marijuana prohibition doesn’t work, wastes millions of taxpayer dollars, and disproportionately pushes the poor and minorities into our criminal justice system. The people of California have a right to decide if marijuana should be legal this fall, and I am proud to endorse this measure. I will continue in Congress to push the federal government to end its wasteful spending on cannabis eradication and remove it from the drug Schedule altogether.”
